Soldering irons

I need to get one – I lost my old on it seems. I need to fix the
output on my prophecy.

Are they all pretty much the same? I may want to get a good one and
do some kit bulding..

Welcome to another fantastic Monday morning. My coffee has only just now cooled to the point of being rapidly consumable, and therefor the possibility for future conscious thought has been assured. Note I say possibility. Its Monday, and I really feel it.

Its not like I partied this weekend or did a lot of work in the yard or the studio. In fact, I did absolutely nothing except sit on the couch watching Star Trek TNG DVDs. By Sunday night, I had almost fused with the couch and remote.

To the overachiever Capricorn in me, this was an absolute travesty. How dare I be lazy in the face of such an amazing pile of work I have ahead of me! How dare I!

To the rest of me, it was an absolutely necessary break from the norm. I needed some complete and total downtime. See, I have this little internal conflict that never seems to reconcile itself. People are always coming to me looking for help and advice and while it pleases me that I am in a position to help people and that people value my help and advice, I also have a very strong desire to be left alone. With Angela’s surgery, My mothers ‘homelessness’ (I probably havnt mentioned here that she is living with me) and the complete deluge at work, I havnt had much time to dust be left alone and process through everything thats going on for myself. Any brain can only take so much before it starts to crack, and I can feel mine doing that. I think its no wonder with everything going as it is that I am not writing any music right now, and I am starting to see an ever increasing number of gray hairs sneaking in (and isnt that just one more thing for me to wrap my head around? The fact I am, probably, half way through my life).

I feel old this morning.

So, the V-Synth GT finally sold. I got a good price for it, all considered, and the funds it generates will go to good use.

I think I am going to just not buy any more hardware synths (save for a stage board, which I will need soon). All the innovation is happening in software these days, and there really isnt much the hardware does (save for pure analog tones) that the software doesnt. The polyphony and sound quality of soft synths are also now so much more reasonable and, in the case of quality, quite high. I played with the demo for Tassman 4 this weekend, and have been totally blown away. If I had thought to demo it sooner, I certainly would have sold the G2 that much sooner. Subjectively, I think it really does sound better..

Maybe more sales are in the future. I could see that maybe the Radias could go, or perhaps some of the drum modules (they just sound so damn good..hard to get rid of them). All the analogs are definitely safe (they just sound too good to sell). Maybe I will sell them to trade up to a fat multicore CPU…
