The Future of NoiseTheorem

For a long time, I’ve been trying to figure out what I am and what I’m doing with music and how I can still engage with music as I’m getting older.  I’m not really interested in touring or performing live anymore…at least not in the whole process of booking shows and slogging gear around for little to no money.  I’m not very interested in making albums anymore either.   It seems, again, like a whole lot of work for very little gain…and I’m not terribly great at making records anyway.  With those two major items gone, what’s left?

Well, I do like streaming and performing from home.   I like talking about gear and sharing my collected knowledge with others.   I enjoy the community of electronic music makers.  I’ve really enjoyed doing both performances and chat streams on YouTube so I am going to lean into that.   I’ve started getting into a cadence of live streams every two weeks.   Behind the scenes, I’ve also gotten myself a good digital video camera and I’m starting to capture video so I can learn video editing.   I’m a decade behind everyone else on creating video content so I’ve got a learning curve and some catchup to do, but it seems I am always happiest when I am struggling against some learning curve or other.

I’m not going to make any money on this, or even really attempt to.   If my channel ever becomes ‘monetized’ that will be cool, but I honestly don’t care.  I’m doing this for the subs and likes and for the interaction with others.

In the spirit of all of this, the NoiseTheorem website is going to get a new section for my video content.  I’ve taken my music off of most of the streaming services because it’s just not worth it.  Im still on BandCamp, but that’s it.   SoundCloud may also go away at some point, but that’s hard to do because it would break so many blog posts.

So anyway, go find my YouTube channel and subscribe.   That will be a more regular way of getting communication from me than this old forgotten blog.
